Should You Force Apologies?

Should you force apologies?

The problem with forced apologies is that it causes a child to feel shame without teaching them anything about empathy. And it often doesn’t even necessarily soothe the hurt child because they sense the apology is false.⁣

So, What Should You Do Instead? In this episode, dr cathryn discusses how to raise a child who shows respect and caring for others. And this includes research-based strategies on how to encourage your toddler to give heartfelt apologies. And lastly, a reminder, toddlers are growing and learning . . . and real change takes time.
